Edinburgh high school administrator arrested for theft from comic bookstore, police say

McAllen, Texas (KVEO) —A school administrator in the Consolidated Independent School District of Edinburgh has been arrested and charged with theft.

Juan Martinez Jr, who is listed as District Administrator for Edinburgh High School, was arrested by McAllen police on Friday.

Martinez Jr. has been charged with one count of theft of property between $ 100 and $ 750, according to public records. He was released from jail the same day on a PR bond of $ 5,000.

According to the McAllen Police Department, the theft took place at Kaboom Comics, a store selling comics, cards and collectibles.

On the day of the arrest, the store released a video of one of the comics put back on its shelf.

In a statement from Edinburgh, CISD officials said “the district does not comment on personnel matters.”

At this time, it is not known whether Martinez is still employed with CISD Edinburgh.
